Data clean rooms
A data clean room is a controlled environment where two or more parties can run agreed analyses on their combined data while neither sees the other’s underlying records.
How they work
- Each party contributes data under agreed rules.
- Only approved queries or outputs are allowed, often with minimum aggregation thresholds.
- Privacy techniques such as differential privacy may be applied.
- Activity is logged for audit.
Clean rooms are used in advertising measurement, healthcare research and financial-crime collaboration, wherever value comes from combining data that cannot be shared openly.
