What is collaborative data?
Collaborative data work borrows the habits of open-source software and shared documents: many contributors, visible history, review before changes land, and credit for the people who did the work.
From files to shared assets
When data travels as email attachments, every copy drifts. Collaboration starts by keeping one authoritative version in a shared place, and letting people work on it, not on private copies.
Good collaborative practice adds documentation, version history, comments and clear ownership, so that people who did not create a dataset can still understand and trust it.

- 04

Owners or peers check changes before they are published.
- 05

Others build on the result and credit the source.

Questions and decisions are kept next to the data.
